A doctor of medicine from the University of Barcelona, ​​Dr. Joan Vidal is a member of the Spinal Cord Injury Unit of the Institut Guttmann, specialising in physical medicine and rehabilitation. In addition to his clinical duties, he is an active researcher in the field of spinal cord repair and neuromodulation, and is currently responsible for the Neurorepair and Advanced Therapies research programme at the Institut Guttmann. He has published more than 100 articles indexed in national and international journals. In addition, Dr. Joan Vidal is a member of the NEUROCEL research networks of the TERCEL network (cellular therapy network of the Carlos III Health Institute) and the NEUROTEC network (thematic research network in neurotechnology for assistance and rehabilitation of the Carlos III Health Institute). In 2016, he was appointed Teaching Director of the Guttmann University Institute, affiliated with the UAB (Autonomous University of Barcelona). He was also Director of the Official Master's Degree in Neurorehabilitation at the Institut Guttmann (UAB) from 2016 to 2022 and is accredited as an Assistant Professor and Contract Professor by ANECA, and as a Professor by AQU (Quality Agency of the University System of Catalonia).
