The Fundació Institut Guttmann is a private, non-profit, non-denominational social initiative entity classified as a charitable care organisation since 1965. As a social initiative entity, the Fundació Institut Guttmann is committed to promoting, defending the rights and campaigning for more effective equality of opportunities for people with disabilities. With this in mind, in addition to hospital and scientific activities, the foundation carries out social actions in the fields of prevention, outreach and social awareness, as well as for equal rights and opportunities for people with disabilities and their inclusion in society.

As a social initiative entity and organisation dedicated to the neurorehabilitation of people with a disability of neurological origin, the Institut Guttmann has a strong social commitment that includes the current concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in its DNA. The Fundació Institut Guttmann, as a member and signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, is firmly committed to its principles and responsible sustainability goals.
Relationship with associations for people with disabilities
Throughout its history, the Fundació Institut Guttmann has been characterised by a high degree of social commitment and working hand in hand with associations representing people with disabilities. For this reason, the Institut Guttmann counts the Social and Participation Council among its advisory governing bodies, the president of which is a member of the institute’s Board of Trustees. This initiative favours the participation and collective responsibility of all stakeholders involved in carrying out the foundation’s activities.
