PARTICIPA is a social research project aimed at knowing and understanding how to promote the participation of people with disabilities in society, with the aim of transforming society so that it is fully inclusive.
This study aims to identify the factors that facilitate and hinder the participation of people with disabilities in society, as well as to find innovative solutions that make it possible for everyone to participate on equal terms.
Barriers are factors in a person’s environment that limit functioning and generate disability, such as an inaccessible physical environment, the lack of appropriate assistive technology, people’s negative attitudes regarding disability, and the lack of the right services, systems and policies. Facilitators, on the other hand, are those factors that improve functioning and reduce disability, such as an accessible physical environment, the availability of appropriate assistive technology, people’s positive attitudes regarding disability, and the services, systems and policies that attempt to promote participation.
The PARTICIPA project enjoys the support and collaboration of the associations and entities of the Social and Participation Council of the Institut Guttmann.
Thanks to your help, through this study we will give visibility to restrictions in participation, collectively generate knowledge and design innovative strategies to build a more inclusive society.
