As a University Institute attached to the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB), the Institut Guttmann develops academic, scientific and research issues in neurosciences in general and of neurorehabilitation and technologies applied to personal autonomy in particular.

Research at the Institut Guttmann: Centre of knowledge

The relationship with the High Specialisation Hospital allows us to optimise the generation and transfer of new knowledge in neurosciences and neurorehabilitation, with continuous innovation in techniques, procedures and technologies in their knowledge area.

The Institut Guttmann develops a Translational Research model in open cooperation with the participation of other centres of excellence, universities, technology centres, companies and Spanish and international entities.

Translational Research Model

The aim of translational research is to develop sustainable solutions to health problems, transferring the results of basic research into clinical practice as quickly as possible.

The clinical and translational research potential of the Institut Guttmann is based on a high concentration of cases that allow it to maintain and develop a team of skilled professionals. This leads to ongoing clinical research.

The synergy between the Centre of Excellence and the Knowledge Centre drives continuous improvement in the quality of the healthcare services offered by the hospital, and allows the promotion of knowledge of the techniques and experiences that favour the health and quality of life of people affected by a disability of neurological origin.

Research with you and for you.

It is possible to take part in a research study during your treatment at the Institut Guttmann or in later phases, according to your pathology or characteristics. Do you want to take part?
