Sra. Elena Hernández Pena
A graduate in Nursing from the UAB (2001) with a postgraduate degree in Neurorehabilitation and a master’s degree in Nursing Management and Direction. She is currently head of Nursing at the Institut Guttmann.
She has spent her entire professional career at the Institut Guttmann, where she started very young as an auxiliary technician in nursing care, later as a hospitalisation nurse and coordinator in the brain injury unit until she became part of the Specialist Assessment and Support Team (EASE) in 2010, carrying out coordination functions with primary care and other health, social and social health centres to guarantee the continuity of care for admitted patients. During this time she promoted the creation of home programmes to improve the quality of life of patients and their families, as well as focusing on high complexity care.
Within her experience and training, she is outstanding in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in patients with reduced mobility and in the management of the neuropathic gut. She is also a teacher on the Official Master’s Degree in Neurorehabilitation.
