The 4th edition of the Camp Spinal H2O is already underway
After two years stopped by the Covid, we are already celebrating a new edition of the Spinal Camp H2O, the international campus co-organized by the Institut Guttmann and the Sunnaas Hospital in Norway in which, for a week aquatic and cultural activities will be carried out, , taking advantage of the resources offered by the environment.
This year, 22 people with spinal cord injury are taking part (15 from Norway, 1 from Latvia and 6 from Spain) who will be accompanied by professionals and mentors, who will transfer their experience, advice and practical training to the participants so that they gain skills with wheelchair, in addition to autonomy and safety.
Participants stay at Hotel Ilunion in Poblenou and practice sports such as paddle surfing, jet skiing, scuba diving, sailing, blokart, among others. It will be a very intensive week of coexistence with the aim of sharing and learning from each other.
Camp Spinal H20 is an initiative that forms part of the Social Commitment of the Institut Guttmann Foundation. In the field of physical education and adapted sport, the main objective of the Institut Guttmann is to promote the participation of people with disabilities in the field of education and physical activity in their immediate environment. For this reason, we provide users with the necessary resources to ensure that this inclusion is carried out in a satisfactory way: improving their functional capacities and motor skills, promoting social inclusion and participation in activities in their community environment, encouraging them to find the taste for physical practice; thus achieving the continuity of the activity once the rehabilitation process has been completed.
