Beines de Mielina', awarded at the Sonor Awards for podcasts in Catalan

Beines de Mielina, a podcast co-produced by the Institut Guttmann and Badalona Comunicació, was awarded yesterday with the Premi Sonor for Best Branded Content Podcast, at a gala held at the 1889 Auditorium of the Futbol Club Barcelona. The production competed with L'Espurna, from the Espurnes Barroques Festival, and Paraules Habitables, from La Xarxa.

The Sonor Awards, organised by Catalunya Ràdio and La Mira, recognise the best podcasts in Catalan broadcast during the previous year. The jury chose three finalists in each category from among the more than 200 candidatures received for this year's edition. The jury highlighted the Beines de Mielina's way of explaining neuroscience from multiple perspectives.

Beines de Mielina was launched on 18 May 2023 and aims to disseminate the latest advances in the field of neuroscience, promote healthy lifestyles and early diagnosis of pathologies of the nervous system and foster an inclusive society. The podcast consists of 10 episodes, each of which focuses on a pathology, disorder or field of work at the Institut Guttmann. Based on 1 or 2 patient stories, they deal with topics of great interest to the public, such as stroke, Alzheimer's disease and cognitive impairment, research into spinal cord injury, language development disorder, depression and minority diseases.

Last November, Beines de Mielina won the Pilar Casanova prize for the Best Communication Action, awarded by the Catalan Association of Journalists. The 10 episodes can be found on YouTube (with subtitles, accessible to the hearing impaired), Spotify, Apple Podcasts and on the Institut Guttmann website.
