The Minister of Health of the Government of Catalonia, Dr. Manel Balcells visited the Institut Guttmann. The Conseller, who was accompanied by Mrs. Iria Caamiña, Head of Cabinet; Mr. Arturo Míguez, Manager of the North Metropolitan Health Region and Mrs. Judit Viñals, Director of the North Barcelona and Maresme Health Sector, met with the co-direction of the Institut Guttmann and other members of the management team as well as the President and Vice-President of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation.

The team held a working meeting in which topics of interest were discussed, such as the consolidation of the Institut Guttmann within the Catalan territory, community programmes and the importance of improving the transition of patients between the hospital resource and their return home.

After the meeting, the group went on a tour around the hospital, where they were able to visit in particular the evolution of the works in the Functional Rehabilitation Area.

Dr. Balcells highlighted not only the uniqueness of a monographic centre such as the Institut Guttmann in the territory, but also its efficiency as an organisation, its capacity to innovate, its social commitment and, as a whole, the excellence of the institution, which makes it a key part of the public health system in Catalonia.
