Last Tuesday, November 28, Dr. Davide Cappon gave a talk to the professionals of the Institut Guttmann in a hybrid, virtual and face-to-face format in the Agora room of Guttmann Barcelona, where he talked about the advances in clinical research in the field of neuromodulation.
Cappon, is a clinical neuropsychologist at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife and the Harvard Medical School. He has visited Barcelona on the occasion of his collaboration in the project "Non-invasive brain stimulation at home to treat resistant depression to treatment: feasibility, efficacy and biomarkers of response to treatment", led by Dr. Gabriele Cattaneo and Dr. David Bartrés-Faz and which has a grant from La Marató de TV3.
Dr. Cappon has extensive clinical research experience with neuromodulation techniques, including transcranial magnetic stimulation, transcranial electrical stimulation, and deep brain stimulation. He has conducted numerous studies on the mechanisms, safety and efficacy of these new non-invasive therapeutic approaches to improve psychiatric symptoms and cognitive functions in aging and neurodegenerative diseases. One of her main goals is to make neuromodulation therapy more accessible to older adults with cognitive and mental health disorders, focusing on the use of home-based and personalized neuromodulation interventions.
