The Institut Guttmann and the Germans Trias Hospital create a work team to jointly treat patients with minor neuromuscular diseases
The Institut Guttmann and the Minority Neuromuscular Disease Unit of the Department of Neurosciences of the Germans Trias Hospital have initiated a comprehensive care program for people with neuromuscular diseases.
The program includes, among others, a multidisciplinary consultation that allows patients to offer comprehensive care in a single medical appointment that avoids journeys while increasing the efficiency of available resources and adding synergies among the professionals who attend these patients. In addition, a telematic system that connects the two centers has been installed to share data between professionals.
The project, launched this Wednesday, 26th July, integrates work sessions with neurologists, pneumologists, dietitians, social workers, a case manager and other medical specialists from Germans Trias, as well as rehabilitation doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists , EASE (Specialized Evaluation and Support Team, and other professionals that are necessary from the Institut Guttmann. At the moment, the project begins with patients affected by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ELA) and will continue with patients with other neuromuscular minority diseases.
