The Institut Guttmann and TMB have renewed the collaboration agreement they have established to continue promoting the personal autonomy and mobility of people with disabilities in public transport in the metropolitan area of ​​Barcelona.

 

Thanks to this agreement, the Institut Guttmannintegrated in the neurorehabilitation process the therapeutic program "Urban Outputs", in which patients participate in sessions outside in order to know of the configuration of the underground and bus networks.

 

They are accompanied by TMB volunteer workers and professionals of the Institut Guttmann, who show participants all the available accessibility and security devices and elements, at the same time that they are trained to use them autonomously. This activity, in addition to its therapeutic value, has a great social value. All of them are essential elements for the empowerment and physical and personal autonomy of the people with disabilities.

 

The Institut Guttmann and TMB have been collaborating in this activity since 2000 and in this time about 1,700 patients were benefited by the almost 150 urban outings carried out.
