The Institut Guttmann at the Camp Spinal Winter
The Institut Guttmann has participated in the Spinal Winter Camp, an adapted sports campus that has been held in Lilllehammer (Norway). Organized by the Suunnaas Foundation (Sunnaassftiltsen), the Camp was dedicated to winter sports, and became a meeting place for people from Norway, Sweden, Cambodia and Spain, all of them with recently acquired spinal cord injury.
Albert, a patient of the Institut Guttmann who had an spinal cord injury 19 months ago, was one of the participants. They could enjoy a space and time of mutual help and self-learning outside their habitual environment, as well as making contact with the technical adaptations for the practice of snow sports.
Professionals at the Sunnaas Hospital in Oslo and the Institut Guttmann, accompanied by people with long-standing spinal cord injury, guided activities, mainly focused on the skiing, but also with other outings in nature to do mushing or sleigh racing.
