The Institut Guttmann's podcast 'Beines de Mielina', awarded by the Catalan College of Journalists
The podcast Beines de Mielina, co-produced jointly by the Institut Guttmann and Badalona Comunicació, has been awarded the 13th Pilar Casanova Prize for the Best Communication Action by the Catalan Association of Journalists.
In presenting the award, the jury highlighted the podcast's rigorous approach to informing the public about neuroscience, the accessibility of the sound product for the hearing disabled, its contribution to making the role of women in research and care more visible, and the fact that it highlights the transdisciplinary nature of healthcare, highlighting the role of professionals in speech therapy, physiotherapy and neuropsychology, among other fields. He also emphasised that it has been produced in collaboration with local media.
Beines de Mielina was released on 18 May and aims to disseminate the latest advances in the field of neuroscience, promote healthy lifestyles and the early diagnosis of pathologies of the nervous system and promote an inclusive society. The podcast consists of 10 episodes, each of which focuses on a pathology, disorder or field of work at the Institut Guttmann. Based on 1 or 2 patient stories, they address topics of great interest to the public, such as stroke, Alzheimer's disease and cognitive impairment, research into spinal cord injury, language development disorder, depression and minority diseases.
