International cooperation in Jamaica with the Rights of Way project
A multidisciplinary team from the Institut Guttmann, formed by a doctor, a neuropsychologist, a physiotherapist and a nurse, has traveled to Jamaica under the Rights of Way project, promoted by the Abertis Foundation and Unicef. This project is developing prevention programs for damage to minors in road accidents in developing countries.
The Institut Guttmann has provided its expertise in the treatment and neurorehabilitation of neurological injuries derived from traffic accidents. For this, displaced professionals have conducted training sessions for local doctors and have shared knowledge with therapists from different hospitals in Kingston, the capital: the University Hospital of West Indies, the Kingston PublicHospital, the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Center and the Bustamante Hospital for Children. The Guttmann team has also participated in the annual conference of research at the University Hospital of West Indies with the paper "A holistic, complete and personalized approach to the neurorehabilitation process".
Participation in this project continues in 2019, with a second collaboration from the Institut Guttmann in the Philippines.
