The Spanish Paralympic Committee presents the Olympic Relay project
Representatives of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, accompanied by members of the Catalan Federation of Adapted Sport (FCEDF) and the Catalan Sports Federation of Cerebral Palsy (FECPC), met with hospital professionals to present the Olympic Relay project.
The aim of this project is to help new talent to emerge among people with a disability who wants to dedicate themselves to sport professionally and compete in Olympic categories.
At the Institut Guttmann, the practice of sport is fully integrated in the rehabilitation process of people with disabilities, as shown by the fact that many former patients have participated in different Paralympic Games.
Adapted sport is a powerful therapeutic ally to improve health, functional autonomy, self-esteem and the ability to relate; circumstances that promote better social integration of people with disabilities.
The promotion of adapted sport, as well as the promotion of inclusive sport, are part of the foundational objectives and, therefore, of the social and awareness-raising activities carried out by the Institut Guttmann.
