One more year, the Institut Guttmann has celebrated its Sports Games for the promotion of adapted sports in which the participants, patients, expacientes and any person with functional diversity interested, can have a first contact with a variety of sports that, with some adaptations, they can continue practicing in a professional or amateur way.

 

This year, the Games took place on October 10th and 11th in the framework of the 25th anniversary of the Hospisport Program of the Catalan Sports Federation for People with Physical Disabilities, in which the Institut Guttmann has collaborated since its inception. Therefore, the Federation has been an important contributor this year in the organization of activities and we have had some of its technicians who, voluntarily, have directed and energized each of the groups in the different sports variants.

 

During the afternoon of Thursday, October 11th, we celebrated in the hospital pavilion a small commemorative act of the 25th anniversary of Hospisport, in which we had the presence of our director, Dr. Josep M Ramírez, Mr. Josep Giménez, President of the FCEDF, Mr. Oriol Marcè, Deputy Director of the Catalan Council of Sports, and Mrs. Teresa González, a lieutenant in the Badalona mayor's office. The 2018 Sports Games ended with a talk by handbike world champion, Sergio Garrote, in which functional rehabilitation patients were able to participate with their doubts and questions
