Success of the 14th edition of the Sports Games
The 27th and 28th October took place the 14th edition of the Institut Guttmann Sports Games, which were once again at the hospital in Badalona.
Friday morning, with the aim of promoting and teaching patients and former patients the great diversity of adapted sports that can be practiced (basketball, tennis, rugby, archery, handbike, etc.), participants were able to try different disciplines. During the afternoon, we celebrated together the 25th anniversary of the Barcelona 92 Paralympic Games with talks by Oscar Trigo, volunteer in Barcelona '92 and current Spanish coach of Wheelchair Basketball; by Quico Tur, a Paralympic tennis player who is also a Guttmann former patient; and by José Oriol, director of medical ratings.
Saturday it was a show of adapted sport, with the celebration of three trophies: the Guttmann Quad Rugby Trophy, the City of Badalona Wheelchair Basketball Trophy, and the Johann Cruyff 3x3 Wheelchair Hockey Foundation Trophy.
The Institut Guttmann works to promote the participation of people with disabilities in the fields of physical education and sport, which is why it promotes both the aspect of the professionalization of sport once a disability has been acquired, as an enriching outlet that brings great benefits to the person, such as sports practice in terms of leisure and social activity, sharing with friends and family in free time and in an inclusive manner.
