We start dog-assisted therapy at the Institut Guttmann
The Social Action Association DISCAN, the company Elanco Animal Health and the Institut Guttmann have established a collaboration agreement to launch a program of assisted therapy with dogs. This program is designed to help patients in the hospital's Functional Rehabilitation Area, who meet certain requirements, improve their self-esteem, autonomy, self-confidence and sensory perception, as well as achieve physical benefits in coordination, balance and musculature, among others.
The sessions of assisted therapy with dogs take place weekly with the participation of two techniques specialized in assisted intervention with dogs, together with a dog from the DISCAN Social Action Association.
This initiative, which will be carried out until next July, is possible thanks to the generous donation of the company Elanco Animal Health through its "Dejemos Huella" project.
