Carles Yepes is a physical education teacher from the University of Barcelona and is a veteran of the Institut Guttmann with over 20 years’ experience helping people with a disability of neurological origin. He is currently the Coordinator of Physical Education in the Functional Rehabilitation Area. Along with his other colleagues in the area, he works to promote and get people started with physical activity and sport as a rehabilitation tool when hospitalised and during intensive outpatient rehabilitation, and also as a facilitator of social inclusion once the patient’s stay at the Institut Guttmann has ended.

“What we are looking for is to achieve the highest degree of independence to help people have an active and healthy life thanks to practising physical and sporting activities,” says Carles.
