Amina Berdai
“I am pleased to see that she is a happy girl who is capable of many things.”
Amina has had spastic paraplegia from birth, and when I saw that she was having trouble learning to walk I felt very worried and confused. We went through some tough years until she turned 6 and started treatment at the Institut Guttmann to improve her autonomy.
She currently does rehabilitation after school twice a week, and receives different treatments from physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to music therapy and speech therapy. It helps her a lot because in turn she feels understood and supported by the therapists, who are loving and kind, and by the other children who are all in very different situations but have difficulties just like her.
Now I feel much calmer about Amina’s condition, and I am pleased to see that she is a happy girl who is capable of many things, and that she has learned to live with her body just as it is.
