Raúl Pelayo
Dr. Raúl Pelayo (MD, PhD) is a neurology specialist and holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valladolid. He subsequently completed his residency in the specialty at the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona and for three years received specific training in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the Neuroimmunology Unit. Since 2006 he has worked and participated in various research projects at the Guttmann Institute (Badalona), a reference center for neurorehabilitation. In 2016 he defended his doctoral thesis at the Department of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) with a "cum laude" grade. In addition, Dr. Pelayo is a member of the Spanish Society of Neurology, the Spanish Society of Neurorehabilitation and the Catalan Society of Neurology (currently Secretary of the same). He has collaborated in various national and international scientific articles, mainly in the field of multiple sclerosis and the use of non-invasive cranial stimulation in neurorehabilitation.
He has also participated in various national and international conferences, as well as in various international clinical trials and competitive projects (Marató TV3, FIS, Cátedra BBVA, ERALearn, ERA-Net). At the teaching level, he has been an associate professor at the Escola Superior de Ciències de la Salut at the TecnoCampus de Mataró (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and participates as director of a module and professor in the Master of NeuroRehabilitation and the Master of Neuropsychological Rehabilitation of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, organized by the Institut Guttmann. In turn, he was part of the organization of the Resident Training Course of the Catalan Society of Neurology for two years. He participated in the training of evaluators for the Dependency Law and has been a reviewer of different articles in international publications.
In recent years, in addition to MS, his interest has been directed towards various aspects of neurorehabilitation and more specifically non-invasive stimulation. In turn, in the last two years he has combined his clinical and teaching work with that of medical coordination of Guttmann Barcelona and international care.
